Why attend an Art4Healing® Workshop?

Life’s experiences and challenges often turn our attention to exploring deeper aspects of ourselves. The creative arts can help us access our innate strength and internal wisdom. They can also be great fun! How often do you give yourself time and space to explore and express emotions? If you’re like most people, it is difficult. 
Art4Healing® allows participants an experience of creative renewal, fun and connection with self and others.

Question 2

Do I need previous art experience?

NO! Previous art experience isn’t necessary! Some workshops require you to have taken a previous Art4Healing workshop, but you do not have to be an artist to create with us.
 
Art4Healing® workshops encourage listening to one’s own creative intuition using abstract painting for exploration and personal growth. Each class is designed with some art projects that target a specified healing property as well as target specific emotions. It’s art from your heart and no art making experience is necessary.

Who leads the workshops?

All workshops are led by certified Art4Healing® facilitators. Although workshops are therapeutic, we are not art therapists. Participants are free to create and express without facilitator interpretation.
Anny Zachariades is a Certified Art Facilitator with over thirty five years of experience in teaching Pottery, Mosaics and other Creative Arts. She enjoys the diversity of people that come to use art as their language of communication. She loves working with all ages - children, teens and adults, watching them express themselves in new and different ways.

Classes will not proceed unless a minimum of 3 participants is met. Please indicate which days you are interested in.

How long are the workshops?

Each workshop is 3 hours long unless otherwise noted.

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Please wear comfortable clothing you wouldn’t mind getting paint on — don’t worry, we’ll provide rubber gloves if you wish!

Question 8

Will I take home some art?

Accepted Answer

Participants will be able to create and take home 3 paintings – all done with acrylic paint on canvas. The Art4Healing® method teaches participants a way to say things with color and paint when there are no words.

Art4Healing vs. Art Therapy

Accepted Answer

We are not an Art Therapy provider. We share art as a tool for self-expression and self-exploration. The structure of the Art4Healing® sessions makes clear that the leaders are facilitators of the creative process, not therapists guiding it. ACFH facilitators don’t offer any interpretation or diagnosis.
 
The focus remains on the participants in charge of their own exploration. The fact that this process is therapeutic does not make it art therapy. Art therapy is actually a legally separate institution and field of practice.
